The town lies at the foot of the hill that was named Cross Hill. In 1708 three crosses, like the ones at Golgotha, were placed there to commemorate the many victims of the plague.
The slopes of the hill are covered with rare plants which are protected by law. In spite of the many beech, hazel, and elm trees one can still see the whole of Kazimierz.
